Family and Child Program Coordinator Position (pdf version)

                    

#1) Job Title: Family and Child Program Coordinator

The New Ross Family Resource Centre (NRFRC) is a community based, non-profit organization enhancing family support networks and parenting skills and providing child centered programs for children 0 – 12 years.

Main Duties: To collaborate with staff and volunteers to develop, promote, facilitate/implement and evaluate programs for parents/care givers, families and children.  Programs include: Facilitating/leading play group, afterschool program, tumblebugs, baby group, and other programs.

Reports to:  NRFRC Coordinator

Job Duties:

  • Develop, plan, implement, monitor, promote, and evaluate programs
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, families, community and partners.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and use a collaborative approach with co-workers, families and other participating members
  • Provide nutritious snacks to participants in all programs

Core Program Areas:

Children’s Programs: Facilitate/Lead Playgroup (Monday and Thursday), Baby Group, Tumblebugs Program Once per year, After School Program (2 days/week) throughout the school year

Parent and Family Programs:  Facilitate Family and Parenting Programs for small or large groups, or one-on-one.  Support and referrals for families as time permits.

Administrative and Other Program Coordination:

Provide program information, complete registration, answer client questions, and answer phones.  Develop, plan, implement, monitor, promote, and evaluate programs.  Assists NRFRC Coordinator.  Fill in other duties for staff, as requested. Other duties as required.

Website & Communications:

Work with staff to provide communications on social media and update NRFRC and community website.  Other duties as required.  No website experience needed; training provided.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in the child/youth field, Early Childhood Educator, social services, human services, community development, education or related field.

OR: Grade 12 with two years experience working with children &/or families, or a combination of experience and training.

  • First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Attributes: 

The Early Childhood Educator should be able to: 

  • Coordinate and facilitate groups, with the ability to plan, develop, implement, monitor, promote and evaluate centre-based programs
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, families, community and partners
  • Work well both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively
  • Provide mandatory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Checks
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Apply strong organization and administrative skills. Manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Use computer skills. A willingness to learn how to update websites and social media, an asset.
  • Demonstrate an interest and willingness in pursuing professional development opportunities
  • Enjoy and work well with children

Salary: To be negotiated, qualifications dependent $25,000.00 – $33,000.00 annually

#2) PART-TIME AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM LEADER

Work 2 afternoons/week, potential for more. Applicant must be enthusiastic, friendly, and a good role model.

Must also have current 1st Aid Training, completed Vulnerable Sector (from local RCMP), and Child Abuse Check.

Leader will be responsible to plan activities, and supervise a small group of children, age 5-12 years old.

Designation: 8-10+ hours per week (to be negotiated), permanent part-time.

Salary: To be negotiated, qualifications dependent

Start date: ASAP.

Job description: To organize and operate a pre-school program in the community of New Ross.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 Classification under the Day Care Act and Regulations 40(1) of Day Care regulations
  • Experience in related field
  • First Aid Certification
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry checks and Vulnerable Records Police Checks
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with community based programs, organizations and families
  • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to develop and implement centre based programs
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and understand the collaborative approach with co-workers, families and other participating members
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), organization and administrative skills
  • Computer skills to maintain website/social media pages
  • A willingness to pursue professional development when necessary

 

Early Child Educator Job Duties:

  • To develop, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate a preschool program that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children ages 3-5 years.
  • Complete paperwork, and assist in fundraising for the program.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with community based programs
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and understand the collaborative approach with co-workers, families and other participating members
  • Provide nutritional snacks to participants in all programs
