Baby Programs

  • Breastfeeding Support: Our free program aims to help support mothers on the learning experience of breast feeding. We provide one-on-one support in the New Ross area and connect breastfeeding mothers with other supports in the community. Feel free to contact Leanne for more information.
  • Car Seat Safety: If you have any questions regarding your child’s car seat, Karen Snair is a qualified Child Restraints Systems Technician and can educate, support and guide parents with hands-on assistance for proper use of child safety seats and safety belts. This is a free service provided by the Resource Centre, phone us or email Karen at nrfrckaren@hotmail.com.
  • Prenatal Program: This program is tailored to the parents needs. It is a great way to learn more about pregnancy, childbirth and having a new baby, in a relaxed environment. Throughout the program, parents will get to know each other, have discussions, and be supported on their new journey. We will be providing one-on-one home visits (in the New Ross Area) or meet at the Resource Centre, small groups, group Prenatal Classes (4-6 weeks). This is a free program.   • New Ross Baby Group: This program is currently running every second Thursday. From 9:30-10:30am, parents are invited to join Play Group, from 10:30 to 12:00 noon, we break off and meet in the Multi-purpose room to talk about topics that are relevant for the parents and babies. This is a free program, tea and coffee are provided.

Children Programs

  • Car Seat Safety: *see above
  • Dance Classes: In partnership with Dance ConXion we offer kids dance including creative movement, hip hop and jazz classes every Friday throughout the school year.
  • Playgroup: Open to children birth to 5 years. Activities include crafts, songs, games, story time, and snack. Program is offered Monday and Thursday throughout the school year from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, and Mondays only during the summer. This program is run by Karen Snair and it’s Free.
  • Pre-School: This program is not run by or at the Centre, but is offered in the community. It is a  licensed, parent co-op program for children ranging in age from 3 to 5 years, one morning a week out of the New Ross Consolidated School, under it’s own Board of Directors. Please contact Karen at nrfrckaren@hotmail.com for further information.
  • Tumblebugs: For children ages 3.5 – 5 years old, it is an introductory to basic movement and modified gymnastics. It will be offered throughout the year with enough interest. Call the centre for more information.

School Age Programs

  • After School Program: Join Janice Cornelius every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon throughout the school year for fun, games, crafts and activities. Children may attend on full-time, part-time, or drop in basis. To register contact Jancie at 902-679-0247 or the Resource Centre at 902-689-2414.
  • Dance Classes: In partnership with Dance ConXion we offer kids dance including creative movement, hip hop and jazz classes every Friday throughout the school year.
  • Family Gym Night: In partnership with NRCS, FGN is offered Wednesday evenings for Grade 3/4/5/6 – 6:30-7:30pm.
  • Girl Talk: We provide a safe, group setting for girls ages 9 to 12 to talk GIRL TALK; held annually.
  • Plug into Music: Local musician Jamie Junger will aid youth in developing an appreciation of music, performing and recording tips from the pros, songwriting, stage craft and much more! 10 week spring session.
  • Plug Into Music – Expanded: TD Music Counts funding has provided us with a full room of musical instruments. Come join Jamie Junger to express your hidden musical talents on Wednesdays. Drop in 3:30-5:00 pm OR 6:30-8:00 pm. No experience necessary!
  • Rainbows: ‘Rainbows’ fosters emotional healing among children, grieving from loss or life-altering crisis. Contact Diane for more information.
  • Schools +: We partnered with SSRSB to provide free after school activity based program to New Ross Consolidated School children once a week. Activities may include crafts, cooking, archery, music, etc. Please contact Diane at 902-689-2414, if you have any questions.

Summer Programs

  • Day Camps: Offered throughout July and August for children ages 5 to 12.
  • Arts n’ Crafts: Offered once a week to children ages 5 to 12.
  • Little Tykes (Transition to School Program): Offered every other Wednesday and helps prepare the little ones heading to school in September.
  • Summer soccer: We offer boys and girls soccer throughout the summer; U6, U8, U10 and U12.
  • Swim classes: Red Cross Swim classes are offered throughout the summer months watch the flyer for dates.
  • Tennis lessons: Wednesday evenings throughout the summer, both progressive tennis for kids and youth, as well as adult tennis.
